1. Raw Material & Characteristics
The Abacá plant is native to the Philippines. Its leaf stalks yield long, tough fibers ranging from 0.9 to 2.7 meters in length, known for high tensile strength and buoyancy.
2.Fiber Processing:
The fibers undergo chemical treatment to remove lignin and hemicellulose, followed by twisting and drying to form yarn.
This process collapses the internal lumen of the fibers and enhances densification through hydrogen bonding, significantly improving tensile performance.
3. Physical & Mechanical Properties
High Strength: The inherent robustness of the fibers, combined with post-treatment densification, grants Manila hemp yarn superior tensile properties compared to raw fiber bundles.
4.Versatile Applications: Traditionally used for knitting ,weaving ship ropes, and carpets; modern applications include eco-friendly textiles and industrial materials.
